The Learning Strategies course should remain at ABC High because it helps students be successful in school. For example, it teaches students to be organized. One way it does this is showing students how to use an agenda effectively. Managing homework, tests, and extracurricular activities through the use of an agenda contributes to a student’s overall sense of success. Another reason this course is important is it teaches students time-management skills. Knowing how to use one’s time wisely is important in all subject areas. In high school, students must balance a mix of classes with varying course loads. Learning how to prioritize assignments and other course work helps students meet deadlines successfully. Finally, the Learning Strategies course provides students with strategies to deal with conflict. Sometimes issues arise with other students, with teachers or with parents. This course makes sure students learn how to successfully relate to others and how to resolve conflict when it occurs. Therefore, this course should remain at the school because it helps students be successful.
